Tonight I was fortunate enough to witness a mullet-fueled exercise in F-Body stupidity as the drivers of a Z28 Camaro and a V6 Firebird that sounded like a weed whacker decided to have a little race from the lights. First off, congrats to the guy in the Camaro for outrunning a nearly identical car with a much smaller engine. Second, how dumb do you have to be to pull this shit on rain-soaked roads with the cops all over the place? I passed no fewer than four police cars within the next ten minutes, the fact that these guys didn’t get busted (that I saw) was a little annoying.

I wanted the inevitable comeuppance to happen, and like you, was disappointed when it ended without consequence. Also, that engine sounds like it’s getting over the flu.

The Camaro actually eased it off the line and didn’t get on it until the Firebird caught up, 3 or 4 seconds in. Probably smart.

Yeah, I use the term “street race” loosely. In fairness I think the guy in the Firebird was the only one trying.

Oh, I know. Don’t worry about it. It was a street race. I simply doubt that V6 Firebird hit more than 20. It sounds like it couldn’t even hit 25 downhill with a tailwind.
